Leyna Bloom 2023: Dominica
Leyna Bloom was photographed by Amanda Pratt in Dominica for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue along with fellow models Christen Harper, Yumi Nu and Olivia Ponton.
The three-time SI Swimsuit model is a multi-hyphenate. The actress, dancer, activist and professionally trained hairstylist and makeup artist made her debut with the franchise in 2021. As a rookie, she made history as the first transgender woman to be featured on the SI Swimsuit Issue cover. The Chicago-born model made her feature film acting debut in Port Authority, which premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, making it the first entry in the festival’s history to be led by a trans woman of color.
Known for its natural beauty, the island of Dominica is located in the eastern Caribbean between Guadeloupe and Martinique. From lush rainforests and impressive mountain peaks to rushing rivers and cascading waterfalls, Dominica boasts magnificent, natural views, making it an ideal vacation location for relaxation and adventure (and, not to mention, an SI Swimsuit photo shoot).

The styling for Bloom’s shoot was inspired by current glam, glitz and futuristic fashion trends appearing on the runways and in the market right now. The SI Swimsuit team merged nature's earthy tones with sparkly extraterrestrial inspired hues to create a playful eclectic energy. Think astronaut suits meet metallic disco attire.
